Awhile back, someone was wrestling against Rey Mysterio (aka Oscar Gutierrez) and ended up with a broken neck. Oscar didn't realize something was wrong at first so he kept going while the guy was just hanging on the ropes motionless. There's a video of it on Youtube. Oscar and the other wrestlers really freaked out when they realized something was wrong.

I think part of the issue is that there was knowledge about certain things being more dangerous than they realized and that information was not shared with the employees. Plus, the employees are encouraged to do the more dangerous moves. Owen Hart apparently had a bad feeling about the stunt that ended his life, but was afraid he'd get fired if he didn't do it.

But, these guys chose to be in a job that involves getting hurt. It's not quite MMA, but it is still pretty obvious that people can get hurt and even killed.

"concealing the risks of head trauma stemming from performing, and classifying the plaintiffs as "independent contractors" rather than employees as a means to evade liability."

What kind of people would be so unscrupulous as to put the petty tax and insurance advantages to their profit margin ahead of the welfare of their "associates"?

Any such industry is a disgrace to America and all it stands for.

And just about every other. The ACA was passed to address this, but congress seems hell bent on getting rid of that.

ACA was a start, but has its problems. My daughter gets fined for not having insurance that she can't afford to buy. And anyone old enough to get Medicare is barred from it even if they can't afford a Medicare supplement, and regular Medicare does not cover much.

Yeah, and the logical thing would be to fix the broken parts instead of throwing the entire law away. Based on how congress works now, repealing the law and nothing will replace it for a long time.

The Republicans offered nothing useful the first time and won't now.

Floorist, your daughter can get a form to be excempt from paying the fine if she just says that the cost of insurance is more than like 0.8% of her income.
Although, people can also claim to be of a religion that doesn't believe in medical care and that exempts them.

But, once again, the whole thing punishes the poor who can't afford insurance and does nothing to help them with medical bills.

A lot of doctors refuse to even take Medicare or Medicaid.
