Still fun to watch. 😁
I actually did something quite similar.
I was asked to fill cracks across a large garage The guy was going to put some type of semi transparent stain/paint on it. I think it was about 75 by 40. I ground the cracks with my edger, vacuumed, then taped the edges of the cracks so the self leveler didn't get all over. I think it took about 3 1/2 days.
I ran into that same issue. I swept in and schmooshed silica sand along with the self leveler to help slow it. I also added a lot of sand to the self leveler in those spots. I also used a half gallon jug to pour from because of the mess factor. In spots that were a pain like those, I came back to those spots and they sealed up quicker on subsequent fills. I used backer rod on the large ones. The SL kept slumping or shrinking so it took multiple passes. Main objective was not getting the SL all over the slab..... just in the cracks.
I'd love to see how it's held up and what the finish looked like for his monster, but low budget man cavern.

It was interesting fer sure. Dang, no completed photos.
