Greetings, all. I'm replacing a 3-story elevator in my home and would like to use glass for the flooring. I need some basic information on product details to decide the feasibility of a glass floor.
The floor dimensions are 59" x 39" and the elevator capacity is 950 lbs. The floor may be unsupported except around its periphery, or it may have two support struts. I'm hoping to avoid these struts, so let's assume the glass is unsupported except peripherally.
I want the glass to be as clear as possible. It can have traction grains. Lamination is assumed. Safety is a primary concern, but building code won't be a consideration.
Basically, what thickness of glass would I need?
Thanx.
