Our new Governor and legislature (without a public vote), has just passed the nations first "motor-voter" bill. When you get a drivers license, or have you license renewed, you will automatically be allowed to vote.
....................nope, you don't have to make an effort to vote anymore. You are automatically signed up.
I think we were the first to do vote by mail too.................... both of these encourage lazy unmotivated people to vote.
Guess who lazy unmotivated people typically vote for? Oregon has always been a strong democratic state if that's a clue.

AZ has had that for many years.

Our new republican governor is balancing the budget by cutting hundreds of millions of dollars from the universities. They crammed it through in one night so as to avoid any discussion. It already costs $10,000 per year.
The US is screwing itself by high tuition costs and ranks 14th in the world.

In Kansas, the Republican governor cut taxes a couple years ago. Now he is trying to cover the deficit by cutting funding to public schools. Many of the schools were already underfunded. The high schools are cutting teachers and everything but core programs. Class sizes are getting to be some of the biggest in the country. The good teachers are quitting in bunches.
He also is cutting road repairs and state police.

Saw a special on tv yesterday E on the billions of dollars the universities.

And how they were cooking the books to get it .

They just signed Harbo the football coach for 52 million.

Who votes for these people?
The same people that will benefit from this recent act of idiocy......... only now, there will be even more of them voting.

Man, if a person doesn't feel strong enough on the issues, they won't make the effort to register to vote in the first place. That's the way it should be.

College coaches make a lot more than NFL coaches................... 'cause they don't have to pay the players. :D

OK, OK, I was wrong. I was thinking contracts rather than annual salaries. Still, the top ones are purdy darn sweet.
They pay em well because it makes money and brings status and notoriety to the school.
