Problems installing software

I'll run it by you here Nick. I have a Garmin 76 GPS unit that's discontinued, but is still a good unit. It just needs to be updated via a USB data cable that I bought on ebay. My problem is that after installing it, I get this on the screen. I also tried installing it via the Windows Add Hardware, but got the same results.


The Garmin program I downloaded and installed for updates doesn't recognize it either. Any ideas?

I tried deleting the drivers I installed, cleaned things up with Revo and did a restart. Then with a new restore point and reinstalling the drivers, I ended up with the same result. I tried the other solution of deleting everything under USB in Device Manager. I started at the top and the second one I deleted was the one that operated the mouse. Kinda puts the brakes on what you're doing. Did a restart and started at the bottom of the list and got a dead mouse again. How else could a guy go about that task and keep the mouse alive?

No mouse you use the arrow keys , space bar . then enter .

OK. I got to this point, but it still won't work. I sent a note to the seller about it. Apparently, these (the software) have a record of being counterfeited in China, and I just might have one to them here. It shows that it's ready to go, but still, no go.????

Hopefully you can read this one. Also, I see that it's noting port 6. Does that mean I should be connecting this data cord to a "port 6"? if so, how do you know which one it is?

Try turning off your windows firewall and see if it lets it install.
The FW could be blocking the port .

Well......I finally got it. After all that, there's no updates for my GPS. Humph!!

It's about 8 years old, so I figures they would be a couple updates at least????

I would delete that software through Revo,

Then go to start - run- paste regedit in there - check the + icon on local machine - + sign on software , and look for any rems. delete them.

Do the same thing under current user .

If you know the name of the software you can also post a Hi Jack this log
