What's a decent camera?

Great close up photos and it's got way more features than I could ever care about. I bought one new for just around $100. I thrashed it by tossing it in the toolbox and forgetting it was there. So I got a used replacement for about $40 figuring I'm bound do lose or break it considering the way it's going to be traveling with me.

I now have a pretty good carrying case and try to keep the camera in a bubble wrap envelope inside the case. It lives in the glove box. Last one I cracked the screen. All my fault. It's not made of cast iron.
