An iPad was given to me that someone picked up at a yard sale. No idea who owned it. I was successful in changing the Apple ID and password, but can't access it yet, because the previous owner added it to their "Devices" on iCloud and you have to remove that from Devices before you can use the device yourself.
I guess it's a great idea for the owner that gets one stolen.

Any ideas?

You have to Jail Break it . Will post instructions in a few . Have to go to Dr's

Which one is it Darol?

Sorry Darol , I was wrong.

you have encountered Apple's Activation Lock theft prevention feature. Unless the previous owner has removed it from his account, it will be useless to you without his ID and password. In case of death of the owner Apple, requires a death certificate, proof of ownership (receipt), and proof that you are a legal heir before it will unlock the device. So I guess we might say that you are now the proud owner of an Apple paperweight.
