Hello all,

I just laid Durock NextGen Cement board in my bathroom as an underlayment for vinyl.

I am a complete newbie and acted before i researched.

USG (Manufacturer of Durock) states that their product is not for vinyl.

Does anyone know why? The vinyl lays nicely on the product.

What am i risking by leaving it as is instead of pulling it up and laying a more appropriate material?

Thanks for any comments/thoughts.

I am from New Zealand and not sure about Durock NextGen Cement board but from Googling it I think it should be okay. If you are glueing your vinyl to the floor the Cement board has to be very smooth as in if it was a wall would you paint it as every imperfection will transfer through the vinyl. If the vinyl is loose laid the board doesn't have to be as perfect
Someone else should be along soon to correct me if I am wrong
