Im not too familiar with how much is considered a lot of carpet. Is that a decent amount of work? How long would it take for that yardage?

When i started we figures 10 yds per hr for a Mechanic ,and a good helper .
That was for residential . rip up ,and furniture . Back then we did a lot of Ax , and woven .

I did around 20 yds per hr. doing apts by myself. But they were always clean and empty. Most time strip was already down.

Have to agree. Remember not to long ago they were using ground up sea shells in the backing? That crap use to fall apart when you cut it.
I tried to explain to a store that some of the carpet had so much latex in the backing that it wouldn't stretch. I warned them that with foot traffic, the backing would soften and the carpet would wrinkle. Guess what, this old "just an installer" was right. They had to restretch every job and they were all power stretched.
But the power stretcher had to come out of the case.

Two of them, I installed and they were power stretched. But I could get less than an inch of stretch in 20 feet. Like stretching plywood.

I know what you mean by plywood. I had a carpet one time that had so much latex we actually broke it off in chunks from the backing with a hammer.
