We barely have anything to spreak of these days as far as "weather" so when we do it's kind of freaky.

Just the day before I took those sky pictures I missed a really fantastic sunset. When my wife gets home after me I try to help her drag her school files and such in from the driveway. She pointed out the sky where it was all crazy colors and shapes of red with the sun barely above the horizon. I ran inside to get my camera and in the 45 seconds it took to go fetch the sun went down and clouds went grey/dark blue. I missed it. So that next day it had rained in the AM and I was all excited when the sun came out and so happened to be outside checking on the roof, gutters and such and had to try to catch those.

We really don't see much of that.

here's what I see from my front yard about 300-325 days a year

That doesn't look the LA I remember
What I remember was lots of grey roofs, lots of air conditioner on the roofs, lots of very large motorway with more cars than I have ever seen in one place crawling along the motorways, an airport that was one h...l of a size which was hopeless to get around
I must have been to the wrong areas of LA :D

We're inland from the airport and downtown. In fact, I try not to fly out of that airport as there's a closer one only 15 miles farther inland from me and another 2-3 I can fly out of with less hassles parking and traffic that are also closer----Burbank, John Wayne and Long Beach.

Sometimes the prices dictate we use LAX----Los Angeles International AIrport and it's never fun.

My first time flying into LAX we had to change airlines. Which meant we had to walk out of the terminal down the street to the next and go through security all over again. Just barely made our flight. Now they transport us out into the middle of the field to a small terminal and we get a puddle jumper to Fresno where my son lives.
But since we fly and change at Salt Lake City.

Yeah the first time we flew into LA we couldn't get over the size and number of planes at LA. Don't forget I come from a country of 4 million people whereas you lot have that many people in one corner of one of your cities :)
They scare you on AIRNZ to make sure you have the forms filled out correctly
That form is a trap for us as most places on it the date is the month then day but right at the bottom of the page they put the date in our format of day then month just to see if they can trap me
We always have had good guys at the counters
We would fly to San Fran if we are going to Vegas as thats a much better airport
We have only stayed in LA a couple of days and then that was when we were catching a ship to go through the Panama Canal to Fort Laudidale. Another of our round about trips to get to Vegas
Also spent a week at Anaheuim

From my old photo stash. It was wet outside before I went to sleep. Snow level was supposed to be 3500 feet. I was camped at less than 2500 feet. The weather man was wrong again! :D
I was temporarily trapped inside the camper because snow built up on a tarp connected to the roof of the camper and bent two aluminum supports against the doors. That was interesting.
Wind was coming from the SE according to my weather forecasting radio antenna.
In the winter, I always camped in a place where I never needed to travel a road with a higher elevation than where I was going to camp........... knowing it was downhill all the way home made me sleep better. ;)

Hey Darol............. ever seen one of these up in them thar the hills?
I wished I had better lighting skills. I've only seen this thing once and only took two photos of it. This was on a trail near some Manzanita and Madrone and it was early Spring if that helps. ;)
