One other fun note.
How come we changed from ice core estimated data to instrumental data (thermometers) and digital and satellite data?
Do you noticed that when we changed the record making data from ice core estimations...... that the graph changed rather dramatically? Makes the climate change enthusiasts..... at least those that follow the human-caused theory to look rather silly.
Not saying we aren't causing a tiny bit of this.......... but we are not remotely capable of warming the planet in any significant amount. Is our impact measurable? ...most likely yes, but please note the mundane record graph provided here (from NOAA) using ice cores, carbon dating and tree rings.
Note the info on this graph, then explain the wild and immediate upward data change when thermometers and the digital era began.
A $2 Wally World thermometer is many times more accurate than an ice core from 30 thousand years ago.
....30 thousand years ago this month, ...was it -4.8 degrees in Presho, South Dakota, or was it 18.1 degrees above zero? .....or 26.4 above zero? Was that the daytime high or the night time low?
Are ice cores really that accurate? ............ for trends, I suppose they are.

Lets get back to using ice core data as our only unit of measurement to even the playing field and achieve a wee bit of consistency.

Here's another.......... once more with data provided by NOAA.
Note however that we are currently on an upswing in temperature. Looks like it has been going up steadily and predictably for 15 or 20 thousand years. It also looks to be slowly nearing it's peak.
do you also notice that each time the tic in the graph changes from an ice age to a warming period, it goes up at an alarming rate? It does that every time without missing a beat. up, down, up, down, up down, with the regularity of an internal clock even without our help. How can that be? I guess the global temperature deviation clock doesn't really give a rats A what we think. :D

See what happens when thermometers and accurate weather records were recorded and written down? Everything was just peachy until we got accurate.
Save the earth from human caused temperature readings, ban thermometers. In my book, maintain the archaic ice core temperature estimations and see what happens to the IPCC's credibility. :D

Does anyone really think we could accurately measure the earth's surface a 1,000 years ago?

How about 1880. All increases are based on 1880 temperatures. Does anyone really think that measuring devices in the 1880s were accurate enough compared to today's, that we can really figure increases measured in 10th of degrees? Today's temperatures are measured with computer aided devices. They admitted a couple years ago that most of the measuring stations had not been recalibrated in 35 years, and yet all the readings are still "adjusted" . Some of the original measuring stations were placed in wide-open spaces that are now surrounded by concrete and paved parking lots.

All of the ice core readings are "adjusted". Read up on Dr. Roy Spencer, a former NASA scientist, who thinks global warming is all BS. Or some of the researchers who were offered money to change over to the GW religion.
According to Al Gore, the polar ice caps were supposed to be gone three years ago. Some studies say that the ice has increased.

Theoretically, since our sun is cooling, Mars should had been at current Earth temperatures some time in the past and Venus will be at current Earth temperatures some time in the future. Also, our axis angle has changed in the past which affects our temperatures.

Yup, there weren't any accurate instruments even a couple of hundred years ago. The ice core, carbon dating and tree rings do show the upward trend, and the data shows rather consistent ups and downs over time. Now that we are using accurate high tech data which can make hundreds or thousands of measurements per second............ how do we compare these readings to the ice core data............ I don't believe it's possible even with "smoothing"
People are freaking over just 100 years of accurate data.
My power bill came today............. The past month was 4 degrees cooler than the same month last year. (cooler than average also) ...........should we factor that in? Or was it just a blip? ..........maybe we can just 'smooth' it in so it looks warmer.

You guys stop saying stuff like that. They voted decades ago that no more opposing views are allowed. It's been decided that human caused global warming will end life on earth, so shut your pie holes and repeat the IPCC mantra... It's our fault, it's our fault, it's our fault, it's our fault........ :D

Rusty, those 97% of scientists that believe in global warming include Spencer. He does......... but even tho he believes it's occurring, he doesn't agree on how much is human caused. He believes it's a rather small amount and a virtual non-issue.
But since he believes in global warming, he's lumped in to that 97% we all hear so much (too much) about. He's not happy about that.

It has been proved that "97%" figure was made up.

Got an "A" on this speech in my college class.

Global Warming Speech
Hi I’m Terry Baker I’m sure you’ve heard all the media hype about global warming and the blame being placed on humankind.
Even with the lopsided stories in the media and the incredibly biased movie “An Inconvenient Truth”, there is no clear consensus in the scientific community.
There are three things to consider.
1. A number of scientists do not believe that global warming is even happening.
2. Some who do believe it is happening think there are other causes.
3. And some believe that is the natural cycle of the earth.
Is global warming happening?
A new report written by Dr. David Whitehouse and published by the Global Warming Policy Foundation, concludes there has been no statistically significant increase in annual global temperature since 1997. Since the planet cooled from 1940-1975 and the upswing in temperature after that only lasted 22 years, the 17 year pause since then is a big deal. How can we have global warming if it’s not warming? There is no scientific consensus that global warming is happening. In fact in the early 70s, scientists believed global cooling was happening. Then when the planet started to warm up they changed their minds.
More than 1000 scientists signed on to report saying there is no global warming at all.
The loss of Arctic ice has been a big point for some people who believe in global warming. Some even predicted all the ice would melt by now because of global warming. But Arctic ice has increased 50% since 2012 and what evidence we have suggests that a few decades ago, there was even less ice than there is now.
Climate models which are the future projections of what global warming will do have been wrong over and over again. The assumptions scientists make about what will happen in most of these models showing temperature gains, have just turned out to be wrong.
Former NASA scientist Dr. Roy Spencer says that climate models used by government agencies to create policies, have “failed miserably”. He says that more than 95% of the models have “over-forecast the warming trend since 1979”. If the climate models are not reliable and they’re not, then the long-term projections they make are not reliable either.
Al Gore predicted all the Arctic ice would be gone by 2013. Some scientists say that we’ve entered in a reversible phase of warming which will accelerate the loss of the polar sea cap.
But as I said before, Arctic ice is up by 50% since 2012. If the climate models and the predictions about global warming are not even close to being correct how can we be having global warming?
2. If global warming is happening, there are other possible reasons. Over 31,000 scientists have signed on to the petition saying humans are not causing global warming. In 2009 top Japanese scientists said that global warming is not caused by human activity. A major scientific report by leading Japanese academics also concludes that global warming is not man-made and that the overall warming trend in the mid-part of the 20th century onward has now stopped. Dr. David Legates, of the Center for Climate Research at the University of Delaware, said that carbon dioxide is not the biggest contributor to climate change. “The sun is the key ingredient to climate” said Legates. “99.9% of the energy on the earth going into the climate comes from the Sun”. He also said “The Earth’s temperature rises first, followed by rising carbon dioxide”. “The temperature is a leader not a follower” Legates said.
Dr. Willie Soon, astrophysicist at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, said the sun is the main driver and supplier of energy, and it is the true external driver of the climate system. There are no forces on earth that could supply that energy for air to move around.” Most scientists emphasize that global warming is a natural change, even though some politicians argue differently. Soon said, “It’s that kind of alarmism that appalls me as a scientist”. They said that some scientists are actually asked to change their findings to match those of the legislators and some do. Legates said, “If we close our minds and if we closed the doors, we are shutting ourselves out from the real truth which is what science is about anyway.” There is a war of words instead of a war of evidence in science. It is a very clear scientific consensus on this issue” said Soon.
Cattle are also a large contributor to global warming. Because of the silage they eat, cattle produce a lot of methane gas. Methane warms the world 20 times faster than carbon dioxide, which means they could be the largest contributor to global warming. One volcanic eruption can spew more greenhouse gases in one day than man does in a year. It is estimated that 97% of greenhouse gases come from natural sources.
3. And Global warming could be a natural cycle.
Until 1850, the world was still feeling the effects of the little ice age.
“Climate is not a constant. We go through periods where it’s much warmer and much cooler, and periods which wetter and drier, said Dr. David R. LeGates, of the center for climate research at the University of Delaware. He also said “the one thing we can say about climate in the future is that it will change”,
And from the EPA website, “changes in the greenhouse effect, which affects the amount of heat retained by the Earth’s atmosphere can change the Earth’s climate”. “Also variations in the sun’s energy reaching Earth can change the climate”.” And changes in the reflectivity of the Earth’s atmosphere and surface can change the climate.”
Scientists can piece together a picture of Earth’s climate, dating back hundreds of thousands of years, by analyzing a number of indirect measure of climate such as ice cores, tree rings, glacier lengths, pollen remains, and ocean sediments, and by studying changes in Earth’s orbit around the sun.
The historical record shows that the climate system can vary naturally over a wide range of time scales.

In conclusion, one, there is no scientific consensus that global warming is happening and two, even if it is, many scientists believe there are other causes, including it being part of a natural cycle of the Earth. And three, there is no absolute scientific proof that man is causing global warming, despite what you hear from the politicians and the media.

You got a well deserved A on that Rusty.
If a natural warming over time causes ice in northern polar regions or Greenland to thaw a little bit, and that in turn creates an increase in CO2 and methane releases, this issue compounds itself with more thawing and more releases. If that spike can be measured, it will be blamed on humans.
Glaciers have been melting since the last ice age. As glaciers melt and get smaller and smaller, rock is exposed and the warmth of the rocks from the sunshine will naturally cause the melting to go faster and faster.......... and again, blamed on humans. When glaciers were a few thousand feet thick, they didn't melt very fast........or at least you couldn't tell if they did (because were weren't here yet to complain about it) :D
Can't win can we?

We only have "very accurate" records back to 1979, when we started getting data from satellites. The satellite measurements show 2016 was warmer than 1998 (the last very strong el nino) by 0.02C. Two hundredths of one degree. MIT climate scientist Richard Lindzen called the hysteria over the news, "truly bizarre"

Non-believers in global warming use it as an excuse to keep polluting the earth. Simple as that. And we are really trashing the earth.
