I've had two places quote an expensive Mapei 995 and tout "sound reduction" for install. Do I really need this? There are other glues with a vapor barrier like Bostik Greenforce that are cheaper. Thoughts?

How much more DB of sound reduction do you get from that specific noise reducing glue vs if you were to use plain ol regular glue? That’ll tell you if it’s worth it or if it’s just another gluten free label stuck on something that never had gluten to begin with.

I used 995 in my house primarily because I needed it to lock out the moisture from peculating up from my concrete slab. The 995 was rolled onto the slab, then concrete nails used to lock in the OSB to the slab, then I laid the LVP.
