Meant to be as close as it gets to us for the next 40 odd years
This is talk that this full moon is the cause of the earthquakes

That's a good picture Jon.
The moon gets closest to the earth about every 14 months as it moves in an elliptical orbit. This 'supermoon' was about 228 miles closer than last years closest approach, so nothing much out of the ordinary other than this the 'fullest' moon of the year.
The moon was 221,524 miles away a couple of days ago on the 14th and on October 31st is was 252,688 miles away. Wow, it got 31,164 miles closer in two weeks.
.........but that scenario happens every month.

For kicks and giggles, I checked our tides. During the 7 days of this months highest tides, there was only one foot difference in height. I've been reading on the moon/quake relationship and it seems to have very little effect.......... the quake was about to happen anyway, so did the moon trigger the quake an hour or a day or a week earlier?
Here's a little info.
