RAID controller

Device manager has always (as far as I can recall) had this yellow ? mark.
Do I need a RAID controller?
This confuzer used to belong to an office, where it was connected with others.
I tried to use an XP disk to download a new RAID driver, but it didn't work because the XP disk was not for this particular confuzer........... which also has XP.
System info says RAID controller (item10) is OK.

I'm gonna see if I can get the CD that came with the confuzer. If the busines that originally owned it still has the CD........... I sorta doubt that they would need it.
I tried to download the drivers from the manufacturers website, but I don't know what to type into their search boxes. Confuzer is made by Gigabyte.

Check start - search - all files and folders - type in system information.

Check on it , it will give you the name, and model # of the motherboard .

Then we can go from there .

Google the hardware ID, that will tell you the info needed , like who made it, so you can select the right driver.

Check the ctrl and + key to make it larger so you can see it .

I seem to find that google digs this up in log file lists from "hijack this" that contain this set of numbers, but make no actual reference to this item.

The line in Hi jack this is the raid controller . Run hi jack again ,and check fix it . see if that does it . otherwise i would go through the file cabinet and find the disk .

It won't update the driver, so nothing can be done here.

You can check all the files that are missing Hi.

I don't see the driver . The support site for your computer only has drivers for win 7 and up.

I'll just look for the CD next week, and hope the info is on it. The computer is manufactured by Gigabyte, but it has an XP Pro sticker on the side of the case.
I recall reading that this computer was made about the same time Gigabyte started making computers. I think they are primarily a motherboard maker.

I checked out the factory installed graphics card a few days back and it was listed (ranked) at about 1000 or lower out of available/tested a graphics cards. It's special.

I stopped by and got the CD that had the guys name on it (same name as my computer says) It looked like a match.
I loaded the XP PRO CD and checked for compatibility.
It says it's not a match. My computer says it's XP PRO-SP3, but the CD with the guys name on it says XP PRO-SP2. I wonder if they updated.

The driver should be on a separate cd.

Normally, I have found the drivers to be on a separate cd from the OS.

But, that depends on who the maker of the computer is.

Googling Hardware ID is how I find who made the device, then I go to the computer maker's site and download the driver for it.
