That stuff has been around here for years and it was a learning curve how to lay it so I don't know about being easier
We cut the vinyl neatly into the skirting boards so it could be a bit different for you as you leave a gap around walls
Also we don't use releasable glues
We have found one has to be critical about making sure there are no twists around benches etc
If a knife thickness too tight the vinyl will bubble usually ten minutes after you leave whereas the asbestos backed vinyls one could force it into itself
Another big difference was if the vinyl was coved the floor had to be flat or these plastic backed vinyls would bubble on the cove or one would have to pleat the upstand to get the vinyl to follow the wavy floor
That will do for starters

What no shoe or quarter round the perimeter? Yes easier to install and not get kinks but it's like hauling around mannington gold.

It is more DIY friendly. In a drop room, leaving a gap, almost anyone can install it.

The entire list of benefits are explained as easy to install (less skilled installers), thick, pliable, softer under foot, easier to repair (because it will need that more often) cheaper.........
Seems that all the benefits of this type of flooring material are based on soft and cheap, with only one of those two words being a true benefit to the home owner. All the real benefits are for the manufacturers, retailers, and occasionally for the installers.

Crap is so heavy though. You get a big room, and you need a fork lift.

Had one the other day
8 metre long by 3 m metre wide heavy :)
Salesman did well on this one
He allowed US$72.96 to lift the cork and patch
He missed all the brown stuff which was hardboard which was glued with flooring glued and nailed to the real old Marmo tar backed tiles. the black area
I spent about 4 hours chipping the cork tiles off then
Got a guy around with a diamond grinder who spent 3 or 4 hours to grind the hard board off but it wouldn't touch the old Marmo tiles
He allowed US&72.96 for all that work
Then I put on two thick coats of matrix, the photo is of the first coat trying to flatten it, to get the floor prepped to a reasonable standard before I laid an underlayment of which he priced corectly
You can see the before and after photos as how we lay the finished vinyl against the skirting boards

You bill him for the extra work ?

Yeah I showed the photo to one of the bosses and he okayd the extra work
I stuff up I pay
They stuff up and they want the layers to come to the party
Tied of that game when this one is so obvious
He looses his commission and some on this one big time :D:D:D
I don't like this guy as he is always the same :D
Thats why I don't normally do his jobs

That's why i only worked for stores for two years before i went out on my own.
They always said they don't pay for this or that . Got tired of convincing them they do .

The other sale guys are fairly fair
This guy seems to not notice things then tries to charge the customer extra
Not going to work this time as the owner asked 3 times if that price included the prep. He is a builder, I think, and gave up lifting the old floor as it was taking him too long, You can see the areas he tried to lift in the photo before he gave up. For the hundred odd bucks cost for someone else to do it would you carry on?

Next time he asks you to do demo work for free Jon, Ask him this.

hahaha love goodfellas and casino

I had a couple builders, 3 apt. complexes and a bunch of landlords. Only did unoccupied, so I could work by myself. Had three stores that I did fill in for, at MY prices.
