Since I just booked a 15 day cruise from Florida to Los Angeles this October, your thread has really got me excited.

Hav at least you will not have any worries about finding an iceberg in the dark :)
I presume you are going through the Panama Canal? Its a bit hard to find a map of the world to see were Florida is at the moment The Panama Canal is a great cruise We did it a few years ago, LA to Fort Lauderdale then up to Surfaces at Vegas
Great life we flooring people have :D

Yes, this cruise starts in Fort Lauderdale, through the Panama Canal, and ends up in Los Angeles, about 45 minutes from home.

The way I see it is when you retire, you have a limited amount of time before you either drop dead or so old you wish you were dead, so this is the time to clear out our own bucket lists.

My Aunt's husband surprised her with a cruise through the Panama canal as a birthday present and she loved it. Some things are fun to read about, but seeing stuff with your own two eyeballs is totally different.

Hav we met this lady on the Panama cruise who said do everything you can before you need the walker or wheel chair as walking around places and climbing up stairs with the walker is no fun. It made me realize we were getting older in a hurry so we would agree with you
I would be sure to put this trip on top of your bucket list. 21 days from Buenos Aires via Antarctica to Valparaiso is a very good way of seeing all of this area. I would highly recommend Seabourn Cruises who might seem a bit expensive but seeing most things are included. A Scottish guy thought his drinks he was holding should have cost $45 at a restaurant but are free here as they were part of the initial cruise price. Sure knocks the price down if you like a few drinks. No nickel and diming here like other cruise lines

The wife and I took a western Caribbean cruise back in 97. It was great. It was on Costa, the company that ran aground there in the Mediterranean. We had a great time. Food was great, didn't care for the maître de though. He didn't get a tip.

Nothing like that on Seabourn They advertise tips are not required or expected. I presume tips are on the price of the cruise
All the staff here are great Shirley asked where she could get some hot chocolate to take back to the cabin at one of the bars. She was told hang on a minute and the barman went up 2 decks and got her drink. We were just going to pick it up when we passed sometime not expecting them to get it. Seabourn will get you anything you need with a smile
We asked if they had chips in a bag as we had only seen corn chips. We were told if they haven't they will get them next port. Were found on 10th deck and brought to our cabin. Its got to the stage we are frightened to ask for anything Just seems to be putting the staff to too much trouble but they say its our holiday:)
