Always been one of my favorites.
The song always had me confused as to who he was talking about. I'm guessing back in high school I didn't know about the starry night painting. I mean, mom didn't have one in the house. 
He had schizophrenia and had himself committed. He did most of his paintings while locked up. Hie brother Theo also had it.The song always had me confused as to who he was talking about. I only read they offered him money. I suppose there could have been strings attached, obviously not mentioned by the corrupt media. It's not hard to imagine conditions in his contract he couldn't sign his name to.
Still, I'm going to guess turning down THAT money is strategic. At least I hope so. No reason that man cant money and do rightous things as a musician, businessman, American citizen and member of his local community. He's got 15 minutes to cash in. He needs a good agent. They're not 100% scum...........

late 70's maybe early 80's I saw them in concert most likely somewheres in New England. Damn they were good. I especially recall the drummer. Whatever drugs he was on it was comparable to Sammy Sosa and Mark McGuirre as far as "performance enhancing". In retrospect it was for sure speed, acid and God only knows what sorts of steroids/viagra they'd have access to. Those performances were not within the realm of normal human potential.
