As far as screws that won't back out, try this.I've been trying to tweak the back wall behind my tub to get it plumb. Still a bit off in some spots. If I had it to do over again I would have added new studs in the walls and sistered on pieces of 2x4 to make it plumb/even with the tub flange. But that ship has sailed and some of the screws won't come back out. So, I have to work with what I have. Its good on the right side, good over the center right. Gets a little off on center left and then is off more on the left. Trying to figure out the best way to tweak it. It's better lower down than it is up high. I'm thinking of using wood putty to fill in some dips that won't have screws go through. If I get all of the spots where screws will go plumb, it should be easier to manage. The lower cement board will likely be easier to work with than the higher one. My friend said he'll make time this week to help me.
This is the most recent pic I took (although I've since added a few more of the 5 gallon paint sticks as shims).

Is that mixed together? If it's one beer then it's 1 oz. of whiskey.... Dems da rules...
Shotgun!Is that mixed together?
Sure, why not ! …..Every other or third Mon. I hit the local pub for Taco night and 5.00 Margaritas. Every time I run into the Same couple, they are regulars, I’m the irregular regular. Here’s the funny part, when the husband leaves his stool for the bathroom, the bartender quickly comes over and pours a shot of whiskey into her beer……on the down LO ! And I feel like an accompliceIs that mixed together?
The screws won't go forward either. Won't budge at all. I'm just going to do my best to shim things out. Discovered one of the problems is that the tub is in the alcove slightly crooked but I can't get it to pivot bc it's in there tight. As far as screws that won't back out, try this.
Try driving them in first. Just enough that they make an 8th to quarter of a turn.
....now back the screw out. That tiny bit of forward movement can often release the screw.
Is this for you or a customer?Got a butcher block countertop I did awhile ago. Something happened with the oven so we have a new one to use but it’s not as deep as the last one was. That’s where I come in.
I kept all the falloff pieces from the original installation so I cut a piece to use then made a jig to fit my piece. Little if this and a little of that and it’s done. Once the oven is back in it should look even better.

I never throw out any wood pieces. Seems I always find a use for the leftovers.Never ever throw anything out!
Pretty cool!
I have two boxes of wood scraps in my garage. But it is pine and pine is too hard to carve.I never throw out any wood pieces. Seems I always find a use for the leftovers.
I do enjoy meeting with the buyers.
By the time they come to fetch it that part is over. I'm trying to empty two homes right now so I'm happy anyone wants our old crap. Honestly it's not worth the TIME it's taking to sell but I'm retired and volunteering this work to support my mentally disabled sister-in-law. She needs the money. You’re a better man than me… Everybody wants something for nothing.
