Haven’t modified any pliers yet but I do take my putty knife and 5n1 to a belt sander and sharpen them up real good. Them damn things will cut you if you’re not careful with them.
I may need to lightly touch these to the grinder if I want super sharp edge again. The sharpness really came into play when there was 1/8" or less of a broken staple protruding from the oak.1/4" would allow small Vice Grips to grab on.
Funny thing tho. When I installed the pad on these steps, I intentionally drove the staples into the oak at an angle that would make them easier to remove...... some day. 😁 Same reason I drilled pilot holes and used screws.

The old man likes to sit out front and watch airplanes take off and land in between naps so that’s what we did after breakfast. Oh yeah, I took the day off to hang out with the old man. Feels good to be able to do so cus I couldn’t afford to do that with my own kids when they were growing up. Anyway, I downloaded an app, Flight Radar 24, and it’s cool. It shows you all the aircraft in the area. You can tap on one and see all the info about it, it’s flight path, type of aircraft, where to/ from… It is just like what @highup has for ships on the ocean. So now when he sees a plane and thinks ‘I wonder where that plane is coming from/ going to?’, the answer is at your fingertips. Kinda amazing. Takes plane watching to a whole new level.

We do the same with ships coming up the st Lawrence river here. They come from all over the world & it’s cool to see what their up to.

Tinkering takes half my time. The other half is puttering. Every day I cant decide whether to tinker or putter

Just staying busy around the house. We had a little table outside with wicker that was given to us as a gift. All the outdoor wicker furniture seems to FAIL. So I cut off the wicker top and pus some left over redwood. I also had a little opening to under the house. When we take the bunnies outside to run around they'd hang out in there or sometime leap over. Now they like to sit on top of the cedar cover I made. I made it a few months ago. I just got around to weathersealing yesterday and today.

My brain is not wanting to cooperate with me. Highup and CJ have been doing good work.

Rusty, sending you love and hugs. 🫂 I hope you get feeling better soon.

Been raining a lot. Power went out yesterday morning and didn't come back on until afternoon. Took Mom to get more bloodwork so fresh results can be sent to Medicare so maybe they will approve her insulin pump. Got her state taxes submitted and found the emails that said her federal taxes were accepted. now I need to work on getting my brother to get his correct tax forms. His employer never sent the right ones.
Feeling exhausted and need a nap.

No wonder, taking care of self and two others is a full time job. Keep going your doing Gr8t ! And Feel clearer soon ! Maybe Try going Gluten free for a month 🤷🏻‍♂️….. whatever crud you had, I may have. It worked its way East and I’m on 2.50 weeks of coughing, low grade fever, headache, discharge and fatigue on top of normal fatigue 😡

Pay for the app and if you write down a planes number, you can look and see where it's been.
I've had the AP for quite a while now. Living on the coast, we have a Coast Guard base. It's at the airport, 5 miles away (by air)
The CG helicopters are always flying.... Not 24/7, but daily. When I hear something different, I'll open the app and see what it is.
Boeing up in Washington makes test runs. When I see a high altitude plane with a vapor trail heading north or south, I'll open the app to see it's flight patten. Sometimes they'll make multiple ovals, one directly over the previous ones. The ovals can be hundreds of miles.
They are either doing test runs or looking for doors and wheels....... ya never know. 😂
Really cool app.
I watched last night on Marine Traffic as a pilot tug went out to put a pilot on board a wood chip ship.
Here's a closeup as it was being moved to the loading terminal. I saw this and went 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱
This ship is slightly longer than average, 688 feet.

This is the correct location of the ship a few SECONDS later.
The ships are turned around out in the bay.... they don't run it nose first into the mud like the other image showed. The GPS tracking was incorrect. It sure looked like another shipping disaster. 😁

MSLI I don't know if I have the willpower to go gluten free. LOL. Not as easy to find gluten free options here. Although, I should look up what stuff contains gluten and what doesn't. I hope you get feeling better soon.

Rusty, that does not sound like fun at all and I hope you get feeling better soon too.

Mom ended up taking too much insulin (double what she was supposed to take) because she sort of forgot she'd taken it and realized after it was too late, but also because her sugar wasn't coming down as fast as she thought it should- she gave it like 5 minutes or something and got too impatient. My brother and I both told her to stop taking too much insulin and to be more patient. Had to keep getting up to give her apple juice and food and didn't get a good nap in like I'd wanted. Every time I started to get rested she would call me. Got a low grade headache and have been coughing a bit. Usually happens when the weather gets like this.

At least my brother finally got the correct tax forms. Will need to make sure they get filed tomorrow. His federal taxes need to be filed before the weekend. State are not due until next month.

Ate a salad and am going to try to sleep for the night.

Highup, the boat tracking thing is cool!

I've been pecking away at my $35 Sears belt sander I got from Habitat. It takes a 6" by 48" belt. The usable part of the bed is just under 16 inches.
I've soaked both rusty and painted parts in vinegar after removing oil residue with lacquer thinner and Brakleen. It's gonna look pretty much new when I'm done. I've removed all fasteners and taped off what can't be disassembled. I even removed the riveted tag.
....not sure what I'm gonna use it for.
...but I have it and you don't. 😁

I still have these pieces left to re-clean and re-de-rust. If ya clean em and don't paint em, they re-rust....... Not surprised.
The bed, plate, or whatever it's called looks pretty bad. It's actually, pretty nice. I left it on a moist paper towel. 😱
Vinegar will fix that along with some 1000 grit sandpaper.
I may get the pieces painted Saturday. It's going to be raining, so I may take the parts to the warehouse. It's right next to NAPA, and I'm out of paint. I was gonna do Rust-Oleum, but at the last minute bought Krylon engine paint. Ford Gray. It will be easy to touch up, but probably won't need to.
The Craftsman motor has some surface rust, so it might need some disassembly to make that purdy too...... and I bought a new 14 gauge cord for it.
I need to figure out a base for it. I don't weld, but a friend does.
Film at 11:00.....
...not sure what year. 😂
