Ours was around $3.37 to $3.43 a few weeks ago, but then in just a couple of days it hit $3.89. Everywhere here is about $3.99 now.

How about $3.29 yesterday, $3.74 today? No reason for it other than 'they can.'

One station dropped 10 cents sometime today, another of the same brand dropped 4 cents.

I was wrong about the price dropping. The station has a large electric sign displaying the price. They added another plywood sign in front of the pump bay saying "cash price" This price was 10 cents lower that the large electric sign.

What they did that fooled me, was reverse the prices. Now le large electric sign displays the cash price and as you pull in because they look cheaper, you then get greeted with the plywood sign displaying the credit price.

They flip flopped the credit/cash prices displayed on the signs to get people to pull in to the pumps because it initially looks like they are cheaper than the prices at all the other stations. Sneaky tactics. All the other stations display only a credit price.

Went out to Lake Havasu on the California side, and purchased gas for $4.69 a gallon for the boat. On my way home, I drove a few minutes into Arizona and purchased the same gas for $3.89 a gallon.

"All the other stations" are actually charging cash customers the higher credit price?

Yes the other stations don't have or advertise a cash price. One size for all.
I gassed up at the 76 stations because they were consistently 6 to 10 cents cheaper than Chevron or Shell across the street. Been this way for years.
Today their credit price is higher than the others. $4.04.9

Both Chevron and Shell have additives that maintain fuels systems.

Not 10 cents per gallons worth.

How do you know that for sure? A bottle of Techron concentrate costs about $8 and treats one tank. If the average tank is 20 gals (it's probably less) that's 40¢ a gallon. If you choose to use techron at the pump it seems that 10¢ a gallon is somewhat reasonable.
