Some times when I click on an icon, instead of opening a page, it just thinks. It will just continue to think, The only way out of it is to reboot.
just on IE
Good grief! No wonder you are having problems! IE is horrible! It is more vulnerable to viruses, it freezes up, crashes, and has all sorts of issues. I actually uninstalled IE from all of my devices so they can't be opened accidentally.
Get Google Chrome and or Firefox. Chrome has some great features and Firefox is similar but has some built-in filters to protect from malware. Both can get addons/plugins to block popups, addons, flash, etc.
For some reason my computer is borked so Chrome won't run and I use Firefox. I have Adblock, Adblock Plus, Adblock Plus Popup Blocker, Adblock Edge, Adguard Adblocker, and FlashControl. That way I generally don't have auto-load videos or flash applications. (Although sites that are now using HTML5 instead of Flash are a problem).
Additionally, Spybot Search & Destroy and Malwarebytes are some good antivirus programs.
When you say you have to reboot, do you mean reboot your whole computer or just reboot the browser? If it is just your browser, a quick way is to hit Ctrl Shift Esc to open the Task Manger and then End Task on Internet Explorer. Make sure you don't End Task on Windows Explorer though.
Chrome has a great bookmark bar and is what I use. You can see how I navigate some of the forums in the pic.
Try booting it in safe mode Z ?
