I have the internet. :D

A meme claims Donald Trump said in an interview 20 years ago that if he ever ran for president, he would do so as a Republican because they were "the dumbest group of voters in the country" and "they believe anything on Fox News."

While Trump flirted with the idea of a presidential run in a few interviews in the late 1990s, there is no record of Trump saying this quote in People, or in any other publication.

Despite the quote’s repeated debunking, it has shown up across social media consistently over the years.

We rate this claim Pants on Fire!

If he came from a Confederate state, it would make sense. But he's from a Union state. That said, the confederate flag is largely considered to be a symbol of the south & I know people who proudly display it without intending it to represent racism. To them it is something different.

I actually agreed with what Trump said about not wanting his son, Barron, to play football because he doesn't want him to be seriously injured. I really hope the kid will turn out OK and that people won't harass him when he gets older and is more accessible to the public.

As an aside, when I first read about the governor of VA being accused of racism, I thought he was a Republican. I was surprised to learn he was a Democrat, but I still feel the same way about it. People are making a mountain out of a molehill. My mother, to this day, doesn't understand why blackface is considered so offensive.

Much agreed. As far as the flag goes, I suppose some people were simply proud of being from the south. I don't believe the people who love that flag are all racist. Is racism the only thing people of the south are proud of?

There are ways to make blackface offensive. Intention is the big one. Was someone making fun of being black? ......chicken or cotton offensiveness. This Governor said he was a good dancer and he put on makeup and dressed up like Michael Jackson during some event........... maybe the one in question.
If he did that in admiration, wouldn't that be a good thing? ...........or is it OK only if you are black to emulate another black person? I think the context is important. If he was making fun of Jackson.................... that would be wrong.

82% of independents and 97% of republicans liked it. That should make the Dems think out loud. Best speech I've heard from him......... for a minute I thought it was Reagan :D

Did ya see all the Democrat women dancing with joy? Must PO'd Nancy. Bet she was screamin' like a tea kettle inside. :D
Bernie's face was a joy to see when Trump said we'll never be socialists. :D
