We had some big waves here last weekend. 18 foot swells at 18 seconds between them. Normally that's something that occurs in a winter storm.
I wished I hadn't been working so I could have made it out there earlier before high tide instead of after. There was no wind to speak of.
The waves came from a storm offshore, possibly from that cyclone over in Japan a week and a half ago. They had more storms in Japan in the past few days, and I wonder if that storm will send more waves this way again. Storms from far out at sea make the best waves.

18 seconds is a long time High . I use to hit 4 to 6' waves every 3 to 4 seconds .
But that's because you were traveling across the waves, every 3 to 4 seconds, right?
These are long ocean swells which come from hundreds or thousands of miles away. These are a lot different that swells caused by local winds or storms.
